How these articles are made, and checked

Daily Dokkai (デイリー読解, “daily reading comprehension”) is reading practice for learners of Japanese, from JLPT N5 to N1. Every article is an original text written for learners. It is not a copy or a paraphrase of anyone else’s article.

Where the facts come from

Articles are written from official statistics and published reporting: ministries, the Bank of Japan, the national tourism organization, railway companies and major news outlets. Every article names its source and links to it, so any figure can be checked.

How the text is written

The Japanese text is written with AI assistance (Claude, by Anthropic) and edited for level: sentence length, grammar and vocabulary are chosen for the level the article is filed under, and each lesson’s vocabulary is measured against JLPT word lists.

How the readings are checked

A wrong reading is the worst mistake a study site can make, so readings are not taken on trust. Every word’s reading is machine-checked against the JMdict dictionary: exact matches, inflected forms traced back to their dictionary form, and compounds verified part by part. Names, irregular verbs and date readings are checked by hand and listed explicitly. More than 2,000 readings have been verified this way.

Photographs

All photographs are openly licensed (Creative Commons or public domain), mostly from Wikimedia Commons, and credited under each image with a link to the original. No AI-generated images are used for real people or events.
